I wonder if the appearance of these has anything to do with the weakening of Earth's magnetic field...

idk, is it really weakening? maybe the weak magnetic field is localized in time and space to this area in antarctica. also, the ozone layer is thinner there, maybe that's another reason they can get through.

some scientists proposed that the four forces are just the ones we know about at the moment and that there are more forces at play.

It's my understanding that the magnetic North and South poles are actually drifting towards one another.

The feild strength is supposedly 85% of what it was mid century.

I posted a couple of things about this in the summer/fall when you were on inverse hiatus.

Edit: magnetic poles. Crucial distinction.
