This was the basis for the movie The Day After Tomorrow. While things probably wouldn't be so dramatic, it still would have a massive impact on the climate and could lead to an ice age in the Northern Hemisphere.
Other "reddit scientists" disagree
An interesting study but take care not to over-hype it. This is not a computer simulation of the ocean; It uses a “box model”, a mathematical simplification of the real ocean down to a few simple equations in a handful of variables. In particular, it uses equations that feature a drastic sudden collapse of the ocean overturning circulation.
