Psychiatrists are aware of this link. Its not been discussed openly by the press or in any states that have passed drug reform laws. Regardless of your stance on the legalization of marijuana, is it not prudent to develop a test for those at risk for a permanent structural neurologic disease like schizophrenia with this genotype? If I were a teenager again, I would want to be tested before I tried smoking the ganja.
Is the lack of discussion on prevention and preparation for increased psychosis in the community by this drug-gene interaction a "dumb oversight" by legislatures following a populist agenda? Or is this a purposeful misstep for other reasons?
