How does a society function if everyone has the child's attitude? Who will grow the crops? Who will make the clothes? Who will build the houses? Who will keep the internet working? Where will all the consumer goods come from? One component of a happy life: Find joy rather than drudgery in doing the things that need to be done. That is what Grandpa is trying to teach. He offers it with love. He wants you grow up to live in a happy functioning society, not a distopia where problems fester because no one will do any slave-work.

If more people had a childlike attitude, they would likely find doing those things fun rather than as work.

I spent a lot of time not working. It was pretty unfulfilling and I spent all the time worrying about problems that didn't matter.

I take it you work, hence why you are resentful towards it and try to push that it's not normal.

You should try not working. It's retarded.

When you don't want to work, that becomes your job. There's a lot of over time, not many days off.
Sometimes it just gets hard to explain to people that I know, or kids who come to shows, I just don't want to talk about the office today.

That or you could learn frugality, and fill almost 100% of your time with work but take it easy, and you will have an abundance past your needs and life is pretty rewarding. Having more security means you can be more picky with what you want to do. That means when you are infrugal you are just fucking yourself over. Then you can work fewer hours in your day job and spend more time working on what you enjoy. But you have to make what you enjoy partially pay for itself to decrease the comparative cost of switching one hour for another, otherwise being frugal won't exactly save you hours (it will but not as many).

More like "if you find a j-" "Can I go play Fortnite now?"
