Bloke would be rolling in his grave if he saw what's happening to Eddit now I reckon.

But I bet he would be very happy at what we've done with saidit. I hope so, anyway.

Nah, he scammed his way into founder status after his own site failed, then took off for Thailand to do drugs and whatever after he got the stock options. His deal was that he'd supposedly work on coding, as a "founder", but working was too annoying for such a self-important individual.

After he just took off, his response to them asking when he was coming back to finish his work was: "fuck you, I'm not coming back."

If you watched that propaganda movie about him, it was just propaganda. Skipping out on his responsibilities was a core aspect of his character, right up to the point where he still owes a debt to society for all those felonies.

Us 2005 reddit users had a front-row seat to the drama, so you might detect a bit of bias in my opinion of that character.

As a caveman, interesting, never heard anything like it, then again, never have paid attention to a lot of things. The one thing that can obviously be taken to heart out of anyone's death, they're not remembered for long, and even those that are, not for much.
