However, I will say that at least with the punk ones you know what you're getting. I've had punk GFs and also very vanilla seeming ones and the most vanilla one managed to slow burn my soul the most with her issues.

That's an advantage. You can catch people by surprise when no one is suspecting you. Coming off as non-threatening is even a common military strategy. The Corleone family business loves it, always reassuring their targets that they're safe before striking.
