Hi Ben, this is Martin Sheen and I'm texting you because 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧. 𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 $𝟓 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐒𝐂𝐂 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲?

I've been an activist for my entire life. And when you spend enough time doing that work, you learn a few commonly-held "truths" about politics. And one of the big ones is that the party in power almost ALWAYS struggles in the midterm elections.

But I'm here to tell you, Ben, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞. Democrats have great candidates across the country running against far-right Republicans whose views fall far outside the mainstream, and are frankly terrifying.

What does that mean? It means that we could actually EXPAND our Senate majority and stop these ultra-conservatives in their tracks by flipping red seats in states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, and my home state of Ohio. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

𝐒𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞, 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐲. 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐡 $𝟓 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐒𝐂𝐂 -- 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥, 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐋𝐄-𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐬, 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 $𝟓 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 $𝟐𝟎:

The reason this quote is hated by the {{{establishment}}}, is not because he spoke about truth, its because he encouraged an open market.

He wasn't talking about economics, he was talking about an open market of ideas, and what information the American people ought to be told. It is purely a turn of phrase and has nothing to do with markets

Yes. I know. I was thinking like a jew.

There’s plenary of reason for regulation.

Right now I don’t see much reason for it.

The left is deathly afraid of the right.

the internet is not an open market
