“The world was run by its bankers. The world was run by its investor class. The world was run by its manufacturers. The history of human destiny was money, the men who controlled it, & nothing more. Money, a measure of humiliation, was the only thing that mattered.” Jarett Kobek, I Hate the Internet

I think it was on saidit recently, someone said "I hate the internet and everyone on it" That's hilarious and true for me too, I kept thinking about it, so I tried to google it today I didn't find the original comment, but I found this quote / book: https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/47113709-i-hate-the-internet

Money is a measure of debt.
In societies without money they just have everyone know who owes who what instead.

A context I like to entertain:
Money is a virtual representation of labor. All intellectual property, services, and goods require labor to produce, so our society is based on the trading labor credits. The main goal is, of course, to generate labor credits, without doing actual labor. Yet, this is deceptive due to you or your generational predecessors, having developed this appealing situation, through their investment of labor.
