If you don't read the papers you are uninformed, if you do read the papers you are misinformed. (Denzel Washington) may not be his quote but it's where I herd it.

It should be, if you don't read the papers and are ignorant your uninformed, if you do read the papers for news, then you are misinformed.

Study yellow journalism, Psychological operations, the Smith Mundt Modernization Act of 2012, Perception Management, etc.

So I've seen the Smith Mundt modernization act mentioned around various internet locations; I took it to mean that it was now legal to use propaganda on US citizens and knowingly mislead them. But looking briefly at the act and some mainstream sources, it seemed on the surface to be about the fact that anything online is served to a global audience. The implication is that anything shown to non citizens would also automatically be seen by citizens as well. Are there more nefarious details lurking there? How can the media legally purposefully mislead the public?
