The best way to control your anger is to direct it into something useful, not repress it.

I know someone who did couch to 5k on nothing but pure anger.

I think it's safe to assume this quote is not general life advice but more like tips on how to cut up your enemy with your katana. The guy was a 17th century samurai.

Cause and effect. I'm angry at people AFTER they try to have control over me (or in the case of the government, they already do have control and that's the problem). If I wasn't irritated about it, I wouldn't take action to take back my own power. That's what anger does, it moves one to remove the threat, if possible.

Anger only effects the angry person, that’s why “blind rage” is a thing. When someone is blinded by their rage, they are more likely to fall into traps. That’s why it’s so easy to direct someone’s anger. There is always another emotion beneath it so to stop short of figuring that out is a temper tantrum, and you need a time out.
