The problem occurred when the culture decided to set group policy based on the standards of individual decency. Yes, try to give people the benefit of the doubt and judge individuals as individuals. However, policy dealing with groups of people by necessity must cater to the average of that group.

Expecting a group of Somali children to have the same mental capabilities as a group of Japanese children is as asinine as expecting the Japanese children to have the same physical capabilities as the Somali children. They won't (on average), it's biology, only outliers will overcome averages. People need to deal with the reality we have, not the pipe dream they want.

Some leftists say that color-blindness is racist. They are correct, because it sets people up for failure and unrealistic expectations. These unrealistic expectations create the appearance of discrimination based on race where it doesn't exist. It's discrimination based on physical, mental, and emotional attributes.

Folks have no problem admitting physical differences. Nobody claims the NBA or NFL are anti-Semitic black supremacists for their lack of Jewish stars. Somehow when we reach the neck magic pixies and unicorns take over - and nobody acknowledges reality. Without acknowledging reality, sensible public policy is impossible to achieve. This has been proven over decades and trillions of dollars in failed programs.
