This is basically an ad hominem. You can't argue with their world view so instead you attack their character by claiming that their world view exposes them as (insert personal attack). Pathetic.

It seems silly to argue otherwise. For example, a pessimistic outlook would not characterize a happy person.

That can not possibly be true otherwise people would never change their opinions. No one would ever be swayed by arguments. That may be true for you, but it absolutely is not true for me. I know a lot of reasonable people. You are projecting your ignorance on others.
