Actually Voat was the target of a shadow intelligence protocol operating around 2016 during the election. It wasn't the user-base that over-represented or ruined the front page organically, it was an intelligence movement attempting to psy-op for the alt-right election. The same could happen anywhere, those elements are in sleeper stages until election year or some event transpires; in which case they will take over your front page and spread propaganda with no opposition. They also have tools, coordination and capabilities that can surpass what simple mods are able to do, your quintessential pirates and no place is safe. Except in the hell in which they must BURN.

Reddit wasn't the target because it was too big and diverse, the mods had enough power to contain. Hence forth it was divided and piece-meals were exorcised of their freedoms, in favor of xenophobic content on other small sites. It was a seeming first for the digital age, a take-over. But no place is safe from the covert corners of the internet.
