A ploy it may be, but the response tells you as much as the offer itself. Even if the offer (which Russia suggested was unilateral, as in they're going to do it on their own regardless) is indeed cynical, how Zelensky and his handlers answer speaks volumes: We Will Not Accept Any Cessation In Fighting. Period.

Imagine if they had said, "Okay, this is an offer. Let's try to see if it's valid." Then they would look like they were open to avenues moving in a more peaceful direction. Even if they ended up the same place (No), they would have given the appearance of openness to dialog.

But no. This answer leaves no question for dialog. It is simple. WE WANT THIS WAR. IT IS ALL WE WANT, AND WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER IS COMPLETELY ANNIHILATED. What a message of diplomacy, yes? Never mind the fact that the outright victory Zelensky et al (=Davos) desire would likely trigger nuclear apocalypse. That's a risk they're quite happy taking.

They are desperate to maintain this war. We really need to be focused like a laser beam on just why this war is so singularly important to them. My bet? This is existential for them as well at this point. They know if they lose this one, the system in the west cannot sustain them and their power any longer. Thus, this is actually an even battle. They talk as though it's about bringing Putin down, but they are at this point as likely to collapse if they lose as is Russia if it loses.

The insanity of these "world runners" is maxed out.

Never let us forget that these people were best portrayed by Michael Palin in Brazil (1985). They are sociopathic, pedophilic, thoroughly corrupt midwits, on both sides of the conflict. What a terrifying combination.
