I know this can be compared to restrictions of the press in other countries, but in this case it's a temporary measure, to 'combat' Russian misinformation. All countries at war have always tried to limit their opposition's misinformation campaigns. It's part of warfare. This would not happen in peace time, and will end if and when the war ends. It's a necessary move, and more important now that information wars are so wide-spread. [4 posts about this on Saidit since yesterday. Seems Saidit is indeed a propaganda website]

you'd better shut up, we know that you love ukrainians and hate russians. Put on another record for a change, you're so boring and predictable.

Is it possible for you to make a submission or a comment that isn't incredibly stupid? If so, offer an example here.

So you're in favor off state control of media and censorship of opposition viewpoints, got it. Are you also in favor of the US-supported coup in 2014, the imprisonment of the head of the opposition party, NATO expansion being used to provoke conflict with Russia, and Hunter Biden's million dollar job with a Ukrainian energy company?

Why would anyone want to use this bullshit whataboutism in order to support war crimes and the desstruction of millions of innocent lives. Let's say that 3000 people in Ukraine faught in East Ukraine in 2014, and worshiped animals, while also sacrificing children on altars - or whatever you want to claim. How does that justify the slaughter and displacement of millions of innocent people by Putin??????? Stuff like this on Saidit is enough to make one lose faith in humanity.

When did I say the invasion of Ukraine was good or justified? I hope that there can be a peaceful resolution, though it does seem like NATO and Washington are trying to sabotage such efforts and continue the conflict. Pointing out that NATO expansion and the 2014 coup provoked Russia doesn't mean I condone their auctions.

If Russia invaded the United States, and then the US consolidated all media outlets, silenced dissent and started throwing opposition in jail, I would be equally critical of the US administration. That wouldn't make me pro Russia or pro invasion.

You are using the same arguments that the right-wing propaganda news/opinion media are using - almost word for word, and recently posted verbatim here on Saidit, for the expressed purpose to indicate that the Ukraine government are evil because they shut down pro-Russian propaganda DURING a war. This is the opposite of what happened - for example in the buildup to the invasions by Germany in 1939. Every country that is AT war has tried to limit propaganda news media from opposing side. Indeed, part of the definition of propaganda news media is that it serves the purpose of a war. In times of war, if you choose to support the opposition, you are in fact potentially guilty of SEDITION. If your OWN country it being attacked, and you actively REBEL against your own country, you are thereby guilty of sedition. Pro-Russian propaganda in Ukraine DURING war is sedition. And:

If Russia invaded the United States, and then the US consolidated all media outlets....

YES - because that is what every country does DURING war. While your neighbors are being slaughtered, no one should have to tolerate your approval of the country slaughtering them. This is why raw video, interviews, and personal accounts are also important - so that you can see for yourself the attrocities on all sides (as there always are during war). News media outside Ukraine can have the usual freedoms. Allowing journalist into the country is essential, but to whom they report must be limited WITHIN the country. Moreover, the murder of journalists can be prevented when the actions of dictators like Putin are limited. Search: role of media during war . A PDF of a conference here:
