For instance, imagine you were to visit Stormfront, a white supremacist message board, to try to understand racist claims in order to debunk them.
Then you realize you'd have to lie and make things up in order to disagree... This can be unsettling for the unprepared leftist.

The NYT is the biggest propaganda rag out there.

Critical thinking, as we’re taught to do it, isn’t helping in the fight against misinformation.
Because once you start critical thinking and looking at the numbers, it enables to spot the amount of horse shit coming out of the MMM, the democratic party, and the BLM.
It's why CRT has decided maths and science are white supremacist, they disprove virtually all of their claims.
For example:
Black arrests match reported black offending rates. Most of the victims reporting are black. It's not the cops making it up.
White income is actually pretty average, multiple black immigrant groups have higher net incomes.
Black Americans are half as likely to be killed per arrest than White Americans.
Racial sentencing differences fall to pieces once you look at the effect of SES, prior offending, plea deal acceptance etc.
In fact virtually all the woke crap does not stand up to critical thinking.

Similar to
Voting, as we've been accustomed to doing it, isn't strengthening democracy.

Very similar. That's a very good point.
It's been scripted into a format for subconscious programming.

You're talking about human beings that used to burn witches at the stake, believed in fairies, threw salt over their shoulder, knocked on wood, wear their special socks every time their team played, etc etc for as long as we've been around. Sorry but believing in misinformation isn't something that came with the internet. It's never going to change. Maybe if the media weren't a bunch of click baiting liars and actually cared about truth had some integrity people wouldn't seek alternative sources of information.

So, this is what they do:
In 2016, Mr. Caulfield met Mr. Wineburg, who suggested modeling the process after the way professional fact checkers assess information. Mr. Caulfield refined the practice into four simple principles: Stop. Investigate the source. Find better coverage. Trace claims, quotes and media to the original context. Otherwise known as SIFT. Mr. Caulfield walked me through the process using an Instagram post from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a prominent anti-vaccine activist, falsely alleging a link between the human papillomavirus vaccine and cancer. “If this is not a claim where I have a depth of understanding, then I want to stop for a second and, before going further, just investigate the source,” Mr. Caulfield said. He copied Mr. Kennedy’s name in the Instagram post and popped it into Google. “Look how fast this is,” he told me as he counted the seconds out loud. In 15 seconds, he navigated to Wikipedia and scrolled through the introductory section of the page, highlighting with his cursor the last sentence, which reads that Mr. Kennedy is an anti-vaccine activist and a conspiracy theorist. “Is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the best, unbiased source on information about a vaccine? I’d argue no. And that’s good enough to know we should probably just move on,” he said.
