Nice catch.

You left out mention of the word of the day still displayed for dec 15 of "voteflake" which is pretty much as stupid and shitty as you can imagine:

"Voteflake Anyone who protests the results of the 2020 US Presidential Election without any proof or evidence and refuses to recognize Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States of America.

After over 50 cases brought before, and thrown out of, US courts, including the Supreme Court, hundreds of Trump supporters, claiming to be a million supporters, continued to cry and protest and chant outside the White House, like a bunch of voteflakes."

You have to scroll more than half-way down the page to find a definition that has more likes than dislikes, and it's the only one that's unbiased. It should be at the top, but apparently they prioritize posts with more votes, regardless of if they're positive or negative — or perhaps they specifically put the anti-Trump post at the top to push a political agenda, which is quite likely the case, since Democrats are more likely to buy their stupid mugs.

You used to be able to get a mug with the definition of "Talmudvision" on it. Now it won't allow you to.

You can get a Black Karen mug. Great gift for that POC in your life.

With how their voting system is set up, it wouldn't take a large botnet to manipulate whatever you want. I also wouldn't doubt that the website itself manipulates the rankings, in order to seem more politically correct. They can sell more mugs with "Marxism" on them, that way.

Only an idiot would unironically use Urban Dictionary. It's basically just a worse version of Wiktionary, which ain't too high of a bar to begin with.

this is why i swiftly bought a REAL dictionary recently, i am not going to rely on using dictionaries online to be accurate. i am serious, i highly recommend purchasing a dictionary NOW, possibly even 5+ years older than 2020.

Urban dictionary is pretty useless nowadays. Anyone can just write anything on there and have it stand as a 'definition'.

I noticed this a few months back. Meant to post something about it.

In 2019, Jewish advocacy groups began taking their first warning shots at UrbanDictionary, letting them know that they were in their sights, and jokes at their expense would not be allowed to last. They started the same kind of PR campaign against UrbanDictionary that worked to successfully give them control of Twitter, Facebook, etc., with articles like:

    and

On July 7, 2020, UrbanDictionary announced it was "rethinking the dictionary":

Like other online platforms we’ve been inundated by hate speech and abusive content targeting women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other vulnerable groups. Hate speech and abusive content online can cause real harm offline. It can also make people feel unsafe to speak up and share their language, silencing entire groups of people. This is not what we want our platform to be for.

...We will not allow Urban Dictionary to be a home for hate speech and abusive content. We support the work of Black Lives Matter to dismantle systemic racism. We accept our own responsibility to fight racism and hate, and acknowledge that we have failed to keep abusive content off our site.

Just prior to posting this, UrbanDictionary removed 20 different definitions of "Auschwitz".

Of course the precious jews cannot be mocked on urbandictonary but college professors can call for genocide against whites and keep their job.

I suspect there may be people within "urbandictionary" pruning top entries. It could also be that there are activist types outside of that company abusing the report system. I suspect that "urbandictionary" are vulnerable to attack by lawyers, maybe angling for a big buyout (i haven't looked into who owns them), and erring on the side of caution. It is concerning that a website ostensibly documenting the usage of language by the general population is, by such pruning, lying about it. I know the regular dictionary does it, but if anything this is more objectionable because the claim is that it is documented and voted for by non-expert users. It's sad that in future, people likely won't understand what our time was actually like. This is nothing new I suppose, but the hope was that we now had the technology to document our reality. Turns out technology can also be used to better fabricate lies!
