For those with high blood pressure it's obviously dangerous. Glycyrrhizin is known to elevate blood pressure. But the person who died for it obviously ate liquorice instead of food.

I like pure liquorice, indeed it elevates blood pressure but it seems to me linearly with dosage, I think caffeine and salt behave more erratically. Personal idea, not medical advice, beware.
