Definitely a weird picture. Even weirder than the reflection is the fact that everyone seems to be facing the plane but holding their signs backwards so they can be read by people behind them.

It's honestly not that many people in the picture, though. 150 people, maybe? I've seen more people than that show up for, like, improv in the park. It's very easy to believe they would be there.

A reverse image search says the picture was taken by Monica Martin Photography. I can confirm she's a real photographer who does this kind of work. Can't confirm much else, though.
