"10. We should be far more focused on avoiding 0.1x programmers than finding 10x programmers" <- This is so true. I think because everyone was so PC, good-code leaders didn't want to say it but I will. Some people really such as software development because they are too lazy, and short-term oriented to write good code. There are great programmers out there. Get the best one you can find and make him/her lead developer. Then concentrate on avoiding 0.1× devs! Give the lead dev a brief to develop the 1× and 2× devs you recruited, into 3× and 4× devs; who should then be able to manage their own path to greatness. Never recruit a dev who doesn't aspire to becoming a great dev.
