I didn't even know cashless shops were a thing. Doesn't money say something to the effect of "for all debts, public and private"?

Though, I suppose there would be no debt if they just refused the transaction.

Good. Cash is legal tender for all debts. Having stores be "cashless" can pose significant issues even for those with cards. The chip in my card went bad the other day and would not read. If I hadn't had cash on me, I would have had to leave my lunch there.
