Americans scream and shout about China taking American jobs, but why doesn't the USA think about the benefits of free trade and the dangers of a trade war?

Free trade is not just a one way street.

Don't imports keep prices low?

Doesn't a rich China mean Chinese are able to buy American airplanes and cars, travel to the USA, use US airlines, eat at American restaurants, and stay at US hotels?

Doesn't free trade create jobs for American dockworkers?

Doesn't raising duties on imports increase product costs?

If Chinese prices are cheap because of low wages, why don't US companies lower wages for Americans workers?

If import prices are low because of no regulations in foreign countries, why doesn't the USA get rid of regulations?

You cannot get rich by decree. You get rich by allowing the free market to work.
