Trump Signals Support for Internet Sales Tax Over Conservatives’ Objections
I think that the Supreme Court Ruling South Dakota v. Wayfair more relevant.
South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc., 585 U.S. ___ (2018), was a United States Supreme Court case in which the court held by a 5-4 majority that states may charge tax on purchases made from out-of-state sellers, even if the seller does not have a physical presence in the taxing state.
Completely turns the internet economy on it's head. No one even dared think about taxing the internet 20 years ago. Now even a small retailer has to figure out the tax rate for the precise location the item is shipped to. Even if they just made internet sales tax one flat rate across the board, it would be less burdensome.
