"Let's end segregation, this is awful!" - 1960s black civil rights movements

"Black people need their own space, fuck off white people!" - 2019 black civil rights movements

Somewhere the message of martin luther king jr has gotten lost, and we are not judging people by the content of their character, but the color of their skin.

I guess this is what happens when the pendulum swings too far the other way. I just want to dampen the pendulum swings, not push it one way or the other. It's so frustrating to see racism slowly coming back, and the media apparently regarding it as acceptable. (mostly because saying otherwise could bring accusations of racism, and people are afraid of the damage to their profits such a public accusation would bring)

Kinda getting tired of this shit.

But at the same time, realizing this race-baiting anger is exactly the PURPOSE of the modern media. Divide and conquer.

Screwed if you react, screwed if you don't. Thanks, I hate it.

it's like we went back to separate but equal. Like if you had a white's only drinking fountain, that'd be wrong unless you also had a blacks only drinking fountain because then at least everyone gets their water. Blacks today want that system.

Any tool to distract and divide, while getting more totalitarian daily.

The big thing is coming.

Why is this not national news?

It's not in the totalitarian corporatocracy's interests.

Corporate media IS part of the corporatocracy.

In your face racism. The funny part of this, it'll backfire; not sure of the outcome, but it will. Time always tells, and shows all.

All the candidates and speakers who were quoted in the article kept saying that they didn't organize the meeting and they didn't make the rules. You know what you can do when confronted by discriminatory rules at a venue where you've been asked to speak? Decline. Unless there's some kind of contractual obligation that could lead to financial or civil penalties for declining, you decline.

If the races were reversed, this would be a massive national story.

Sounds like one of those 'the shoe is on the other foot' situations.

I do not have a problem with this. It's not like they said, "This other group sucks, and so they have to sit in the back of the bus." They had an event for their constituency. What is wrong with black folks having a meeting for black folks?

People get too caught up in the abstract. "Is this discriminatory?" No, in my view; discrimination is when everyone has to do something and some people are excluded, like when you keep black people out of the voting booth. That is not what is happening here.
