Actually we do want a Green New Deal

"We" - I think you mean "I" - ftfy.

Who The Fuck Are You?!

I could say the same thing.

How old are you?

32

You sound like high school mentality! LOL

Awww, did me bashing AOC hurt your feelings?

Do you even remember the original New Deal?

Not an American, so no.

Go learn.

Quid pro quo - I will, if you do too, about the difference between thinking or assuming - and knowing.

Both your posts to me are riddled with insignificant vulgarities, assumptions and a distinct condescending arrogance that I despise in people.

Sorry my post upset you, but I don't really care. :)

We.

2/5000, 7/5000, even if 50/5000 people (5000 being the number of saidit users) said they want it, does not, a voting majority: make, but fair enough - I was merely trying to help the user understand the difference between commenting their opinions as some kind of group fact and speaking for themselves. They spoke as if they were every American ever.

It will require a flood of support from a lot of people for her to succeed - and don't get me wrong, I want this world to improve - but from all the news about her lately, there doesn't seem to be much going on with her aside from more of the usual political backroom dealing and personal interest/hidden finances etc.

I don't want anything the corporate Dems are pushing.

I want the Green Party's original Green New Deal.

This is the Dems pretending they're like Roosevelt and marginalizing the Green Party.

But I also think Vigte was crass. Whether she may be nice or not she does serve the evil corporatocracy, but there's no need for mud flinging.

[–]Vigte[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Eh, people fling mud all the time, even here on Saidit, it's just when it's about something current that some people get antsy.

They won't even remember her name in 10 - 20 years.

This is the same nonsense I keep seeing when the general public has no thoughtful or meaningful response or alternatives to long overdue progressive ideas and all they can think of is murder. Fuck You Dude

thoughtful or meaningful response or alternatives to long overdue progressive ideas

The GND would lead to poverty, starvation, and war. Just like most socialist ideas. My alternative is individual liberty, which is a proven winner. Free market capitalism is the only economic system proven to lift people out of poverty. Socialism requires a powerful state to enforce the will of a small ruling class over the masses, which is the opposite of liberty.

[–]TheParanoidAndroid 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

America is already so called socialist. The most used form of healthcare is Medicare and is also the most efficient or of all the forms in America, you give billions to banks, industry, agriculture and the defence contractors, tax breaks for the rich. Billions of dollars to Israel. The rich are making bank off of "socialism" while telling the rest of you it's bad. The future is now old man and you are going to be on the wrong side of history. If free market capitalism is so great and America is the shining example of that why is America lagging behind almost all other developed countries except for military spending, prison populations and mass shootings?

[–]sawboss 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

You described fascism, which has been in place since the early 20th century.

[–]TheParanoidAndroid 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Are you saying America is currently fascist?

[–]sawboss 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It has been since before I was born. Isn't it obvious?

[–]TheParanoidAndroid 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is where we agree friendo.

You're free to disagree, but don't initiate name calling. Please respect the pyramid of debate.

I'll make sure to send you a signed and personalized copy of my book when I'm done. It's far superior to the green deal because it wasn't written in a rush with the end goal of being elected. Actual research went into it, rather than simply in-the-box idealism.

long overdue progressive ideas and all they can think of is murder.

When did I support murder or say I wasn't for progress? Ignorant assumptions.

Fuck You Dude

Nah "dude", fuck you :)

[–]magnora7 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (11 children)

Pyramid of debate, please respect it. It's okay to disagree, don't all each other names. Maybe don't editorialize your titles so heavily too... Calling a politician a bitch in the title is pretty low on the pyramid of debate.

[–]Vigte[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

shrug I understand, but it's hardly comparable to the majority of nasty content on the internet. I stand by my opinion, sorry if it upset anyone.

[–]magnora7 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

We aren't comparing ourselves to the low standards of "the internet", that's the whole point. You're allowed your opinion, just maybe not in a rude word in the title? Can you manage that? We take the pyramid of debate seriously, and if you're constantly dragging stuff downward on the pyramid things won't last very long here.

[–]Vigte[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

Fair enough, I can respect that logic - however it cuts both ways.

If a post/title is so offensive someone feels the need to escalate the fight while adding literally nothing that cannot be refuted with a single sentence, then perhaps they shouldn't be jumping in here like Rambo either.

[–]magnora7 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

I completely agree with you 100%. But you have to admit calling a famous politician a bitch in the title is just kind of asking for low-brow angry responses, ya know? Be the elevated discussion you want others to exhibit

[–]Vigte[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

I never claimed to be a bastion of purity, I do think she's a bitch - given the stories coming out painting her as just another politician on the payroll - all the support for her comes from a good place and from good people - but she's a pied piper.

I can't sit idly by and act respectful to a person I don't respect and let good people be lied to, again.

I won't editorialize the headlines anymore, nor state my opinion about her unless asked to in debate, then, if that works?

[–]magnora7 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I never claimed to be a bastion of purity

Well saidit does, and it's part of the site rules to obey the pyramid of debate.

all the support for her comes from a good place and from good people - but she's a pied piper.

Now THAT is a much more useful editorialization than "LOL stay home bitch". Had you posted that info to the title instead of a rude insult we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

I'm not saying "don't have an opinion". I am saying "state your opinion in a way that is on the higher levels of the pyramid of debate"

https://saidit.net/static/debatepyramid.jpg

Do you see what I mean? It's just a decorum thing, it has nothing to do with your actual opinions. You're free to say whatever opinions you like. But respectfully, and in an informational manner. You'll find you convince more people that way anyways.

[–]Vigte[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Well saidit does, and it's part of the site rules to obey the pyramid of debate.

Nothing is sacred or safe on the internet, especially that which is declared sacred and safe. We all know this - just don't be surprised if as the user base grows without the pyramid of debate plastered in everyone's face on each page and a quiz about it when you sign up for an account, it's going to get forgotten (either accidentally or intentionally). If I had been a new user, I would likely have said "debate pyramid?".

I haven't seen the debate pyramid posted much (outside of isolated comments which some users won't be seeing, because they won't click on that post) in the last 8 months after the front page post about it was unstuck/dropped off.

Of course I see what you mean, but I was never trying to convince anyone in the first place. It's up to the reader to decide what they believe, I was simply relaying the news and injecting (and clearly delineating it from the article title) some of my opinion and passion into it.

My wording is my responsibility but it's as much up to people to have the self-restraint to either not engage with people they think are wrong or to engage in an actually productive and good faith manner, which did not occur earlier. You already said this, I already said this. Just felt like it would be rude not to reply to your post.

Like I said, I'll editorialize the titles less but I won't back down when I'm the one being attacked first.

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

"Bitch" is name calling.

"Corporate sellout" is descriptive.

There's a difference. Call her what she actually is, not some inarticulate name or opinion.

[–]Vigte[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Eh - don't get me wrong, I'm willing to tread the line between what I think and what others want to hear, but ultimately, it's how I see her.

It's probably a deep rooted personal issue, given that she has the same objective as I do (find a large scale solution to this shit planet) - and I find it almost insulting that she put in very little time and thought into it, while I slave away for 10 years working on it.

It's like watching a sports teammate put in the bare minimum effort, it insults the cause.

[–]magnora7 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't agree with insulting lawmakers like this. Even though I normally have no sympathy for someone like AOC.

[–]Vigte[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

So you've never insulted any law maker, ever - even in your head?

Never thought "asshole George Bush!" "stupid Bill Clinton."

It's pretty sad how everyone wants to gang bang me for calling her a bitch, acting like they have never done it too.

"Oh no, someone made a mistake, never let them live it downnnnn."

shrug I think she's a bitch, I explained why 100 times in this post to other people, but few people have the courtesy to read it, naturally and even fewer, to comment or even try to debate me on it.

Sorry people's feeling got hurt.

[–]UmamiTofu 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think bitch is just worse than the other words. I would call a politician stupid or evil or something like that.
