The difference between the government and the free market is that when the government wins, someone loses. Businesses offer a voluntary transaction that pleases both sides.

If the government says straws are illegal, treehuggers are happy, but restaurant customers are not.

If a business sells you a shirt for $20, they make money and you get a shirt.

Governments are about force. You can boycott the free market, but the Gestapo will come with guns to force you to obey a government decree.
