McDonald's gross profit for the twelve months ending March 31, 2024 was $14.688B.

Paying people so little that the taxpayer has to pick up their nutrition costs is unconscionable if you're making $14 Billion.

If your fast food restaurant isn't profitable without the taxpayer supplementing wages, it's not profitable, and should be closed.

It seems that big corporations are the only ones likely to survive the wage hike. And then they can proceed to automate those workers out of jobs.

It seems artificial to have it only apply to fast food workers. But the vast majority of "fast food" is big corporations.

Congratulations, now those people are making nothing.

Anyway, it’s not like I love McDonald’s, people shouldn’t be eating fast food. And people should be cooking at home more than eating out. I would even go so far as to say that people should be growing more of their own food, to the extent possible given their living situation.

The article only says that they lost their fast-food job. It doesn't say that they're still unemployed.

Overall in April, unemployment rate was slightly down. In fact it was the lowest since July last year, seasonally adjusted. (Whatever that means).

This is a rare good point by ActuallyNot. Taxpayers are subsidizing low income workers on behalf of the companies who can most certainly afford higher wages.

Yep - companies that refuse to pay a living wage should fail.

Biden and Obama would bail out their buddies at McDonald's.

How's that working for other fast-food chains? https://www.eatthis.com/restaurants-closing-locations/

You know that Obama left politics in 2017?

No, he uses Biden as a puppet, for his third term.

Newsome wants to force employers to work at a loss. That’s some Atlas Shrugged stuff right there.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The intricate balance of our Ponzi pyramid economy cannot be disrupted, lest the whole shit-house crumbles.
