My theory is that part of the intent is to provoke something politically useful from a segment of the population currently being targeted in the cultural war as a pretext for clamping down and criminalizing certain lawful political speech and ideology as domestic terrorism.

Much of the groundwork for this is already laid. I have developed a good understanding of how 1930's Germany was able to get away with their crimes for so long against so many groups- predominately the Jewish people. I believe much the same is happening here in the U.S.

I see so much in common between the 1930's and the 2020's when it comes to geopolitics, even if the borders have moved around.

Indeed.

For me the propaganda success gives pause to wonder how many German Jews were willing to enthusiastically turn fellow Jews in to the Gestapo on the false premise that doing so would curry favor with the Nazis.

Today I see people willing to relinquish liberties and such; and as well an oblivious eagerness to deny others basic Constitutional rights and protections thinking that somehow it doesn't bode ill for everyone. Either everyone has rights or no one has them. Handing the power to arbitrate who is and isn't worthy or basic protections to any government essentially is signing the death warrant to a way of life.

I guess every few generations needs to be taught how oppression works because it is such a far-out premise from the history books to which they can't relate.
