I think you are misjudging the authors ideological basis for her critique (I read every one of her pieces, I've got a good idea of her ideological leanings). This is not an 'anti-democracy' position, it is a bemoaning the reality that 'corporate interests have hijacked our democracy' and turned it into an oligarchic pseudo-democracy position. Caitlin is pro-democracy (shes actually direct democracy advocate, she thinks the representational system is prone to corruption), she is saying what we have looks nothing like democracy. 70% of the population does not want Biden or Trump, yet thats who we are going to be stuck choosing between - that is NOT what real democracy looks like, and that is the point she is attempting to make here

I am aware of the things you think are bad for democracy, I don't expect that you would agree with her take (beyond the corporate money bad stuff), but I think you are projecting those opinions onto her intent, when she is coming from a different place

Yes, I understand the argument you are making for choosing the lesser of two evils in the current political environment. My rebuttal would be that there is zero hope of making meaningful systemic changes as long as we are settling for the Bidens and Trumps that nobody wants, or even Obamas that people do want. I see what you are advocating for as the thing that is discouraging, accepting an unacceptable scenario because your options have been artificially restricted to two unacceptable choices.

I think of it like this: if more people thought like me and were willing to forsake their party when the National Committee does whats good for the donors rather than the people, then they would have to do more of what the people wanted to prevent us from defecting. This DNC/RNC locking us into choosing the lesser of two evils is only the case because you are stuck in this paradigm, if other people reject it, it would cease to exist, its a self-fulfilling prophecy, i.e. people choose to vote for only the candidates they think their neighbors will support, but their neighbor only supports them because they think you will only support them, so nobody wants them, but everyone feels trapped into voting for them anyway. The only way out is enough people voting 3rd party to force them to listen to voters rather than donors

AOC sold out to Pelosi. She's a cunt that does nothing and supports the status quo, just like you. Imagine pinning your political future and hope on a 30 year old bartender.

The world is doomed bro. Einstein had already proved that solutions can’t be thought up by problem makers. It takes an outside mind - and those are often the first to be punished rather than enticed.
