I think voting for a criminal would put off some of the marginal voters.
On the upside you'd see the issue of whether a president can pardon themselves settled in case law.

No, I don't mean Biden.
We're talking about Ty Cobb predicting that the Mar a lago documents resulting in a prison sentence for Trump. This is because there is sufficient evidence to show that the former president and his top advisers had knowledge of the correct declassification process, and so that the breaking of the law had criminal mind.
It's Trump that owns Mar a Lago, not Biden.

Biden owns a garage where he put all the documents he took in an insecure way next to his crack addled son.

When Biden discovered the documents, he notified NARA. They said "can we have a look around for anything you've missed?" and he said "sure".
That's why what he did doesn't meet the criteria for criminality. You have to have intent.
Having a family member struggling with addiction also isn't a crime.
However, as per the article, there's informed legal opinions that Trump's not been so lawful.
