really fucking stupid and utterly devoid of judgement and compassion.

u/Dicknipples this is what I mean about the trans community hate doctrine being a pretty damn mainstream phenomenon that has infected the entire woke base. There is no reason this community should not be criticized for their violent extremist rhetoric - when an Alt-Righter writes a manifesto and murders innocent people for not believing their ideology, we are (rightly) told their ideology is to blame, and when a woke person does it....the ideology of the Alt-Right is to blame again rather than the ideology of the shooter... This is not a consistent application of principles, and people should not think ideological violent extremism is OK for them, while crucifying their enemies for doing the same thing. They no longer have a valid claim to any sort of moral high ground when they engage in the same divisive and toxic hate rhetoric

Agreed on all points.

To my knowledge, most people in the US have been moderates and tend not to have extreme views. I also notice that these people often seem to be nicer than the people of other countries, perhaps due in part to it being a wealthier country.

I suppose the staffer resigned because her government job requires her to avoid showing bias that might not represent the governor's views. But I cannot rely on the full story at the Daily Mail, which is traditionally more interested in division and click bait (as it's a tabloid, after all, not a news resource).

But I certainly agree that a minority should never have any power over a majority, if I can put it that way. :-)

I don't know about this. Yes the titles and writing are click-baity, and yes they have some trashy tabloid stuff, but their track record of reporting factual information seems quite good over the last couple of years I have read it. Actually, I am somewhat impressed that the Daily Mail seems willing to print stories that are embarrassing to both the Democrats and the Republicans (They happily bash both Trump and Biden, as well as the policies of both parties), rather than bury or neglect a story that is inconvenient to the wrong party. In this way their love of clicks, and being 1-step removed from U.S. politics, I'd say they have a much better track record than the NYT or Fox News when I want to see factually accurate reporting on what happened during the day, although they are certainly not perfect, NYT and Fox are a pretty low bar to clear.

Now I am not saying their analysis was enlightening, but I am pretty confident that Staffer both made that tweet in question and resigned, this isn't that hard to verify, searching NYT right now, there is NO mention of this event even happening. However I CAN find it on the NYPost, which reiterates my issue with U.S. media and their too-cozy relationships with our political parties

Yet it must be real, because I did manage to find it on one of your approved DNC news sources

Saidit enjoys the Daily Mail, so we can leave it at that.

If we were to discuss journalistic integrity and fairness, that would be a very different matter.

If you really believe the Daily Mail has a better track record than the NYT, I should perhaps note:

The Daily Mail is a British daily middle-market tabloid

It has very low credibility and an obvious right wing bias, and questionable reasoning: right, propaganda, conspiracy, some fake news, numerous failed fact checks

The Daily Mail scored an average Factual Grade of 39.5%, the second-lowest score in our entire dataset.

The Daily Mail has a sensationalist, tabloid bent, often choosing to highlight individual stories that elicit shock or heightened emotions.

The NYT is known for a slightly left of center, but always given a high factual rating, though the bias in favor of Israel's government is a huge problem.

I have an NYT subscription, 'slightly left of center' is an egregious miscategorization. Literally in bed with the DNC would be more accurate

Factual reporting will look like that when the GOP is based in misinformation.
