I've come to believe that the biggest fear of the current political machine is an outsider winning a major election (exactly like Trump did). Such a person, who may or may not actually be qualified for the job, isn't clued in on the unspoken rules that the system uses and therefore won't abide by those rules when doing the job.

I've come to believe that the biggest fear of the current political machine is an outsider winning a major election (exactly like Trump did).

Trump is an interesting character. To say he is an "outsider" is a bridge too far. Trump has not gotten where he is outside the system. Trump is intimately tied into the system through a myriad of business relationships. He's a property developer in the largest cities in the empire for Christ's sake.

Rather than an outsider, Trump is an insider who is willing to promote a new paradigm for power. In other words, he wants the same system from which he has benefited handsomely, but he doesn't want the rules of that system which block his goals. He's willing to upset the apple cart, but only to a point. Trump is absolutely clued in on the unspoken rules - that's why he is so effective at drawing attention to them. It's also why he so threatens the club; he understands them.

While he doesn't have the power base to actually dismantle the system, his attacks have already changed politics radically, and those changes are permanent. Trump himself will never again be allowed to take control of the formal ring of power, but he has inspired millions of people with the recognition that the global machine is not invincible. That optimism for the enemies of this unified Goliath is a huge and growing deal.

Pardon, I should have clarified that I meant "outsider" in the context of his not having been a career politician before his election.

It took seven years for this information to come out?

    [–]Fiyanggu 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The entirety of the political establishment, GOP and Dems, were working to suppress this info. Their interests are in continuing to hold onto power and that means keeping outsiders like Trump out. Just look at who crawled out of the woodwork. That weasel, Paul Ryan. He's looking to come back as a senior statesman.

The 1% rule the 99% with layers upon layers of narratives for endless distractions 24/7, 365.

    "Distractions? From what?"

    The answer here.

Actually it was available not long afterwards.

Facebook VP: "The Majority Of Russian Ad Spend Happened AFTER The Election" https://newsroom.fb.com/news/2017/10/hard-questions-russian-ads-delivered-to-congress/

"many of these ads did not violate our content policies. That means that for most of them, if they had been run by authentic individuals, anywhere, they could have remained on the platform."

    Meanwhile...

    • The DNC literally rigged a national primary election to get the result they wanted.
    • Hillary Clinton took millions of dollars in foreign donations for her campaign.
    • Hillary's campaign colluded with multiple media outlets, telling which stories to run, when, and getting editorial control.
    • Obama administration was literally wiretapping Trump's campaign manager DURING the election.

    [–]StillLessons 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

What the Democratic establishment can never admit is that the only reason people voted for Trump is that the Clintons are THAT BAD. Trump would have been unelectable against a moderately acceptable candidate. The Clinton machine was, is, and will always be absolutely unacceptable. In 2020, they were set to lose again, so they cheated. Trump isn't winning; they are losing, again and again and again... So they've put the machine in motion to rig elections, using a variety of strategies, these strategies becoming less and less subtle and more and more difficult to hide.

The voters of the west will believe what they want to believe. As long as they don't admit that this is happening, it can keep going forward. More and more are admitting the truth, however. The term "conspiracy theory" is running out of road.

It's going to be ugly, because no group gives up power without fighting, and they will not follow any rules when they fight. They want POWER, and that has nothing to do with representation. It has everything to do with anything they can get away with.

    [–]handbananasrevenge 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

For all of her alleged prowess as a skilled political operator, Hillary was a lazy and arrogant campaigner. She acted like it was the job of the American people to elect her, rather than it being her job to earn their votes.

They rigged the primary and acted like the general election was a formality. Not just Clinton and her campaign, but the pundits and politicos and most of the so called “smart set”. Her supporters were gloating and acting like she had already won.

So, when she lost, a lot of people had a LOT of egg on their faces. And the Clintons took a lot of money from people who were expecting to get their backs scratched once she was president. So the damage control kicked in. Hard.

And that touched off a temper tantrum of rage and spite that is still going strong today. They want to punish people for not electing her.

I can almost guarantee that if she had won, Covid in America would have looked much different. Not because she would have done things to prevent it from spreading here, but because there’s no way the media and political class would have called for the heavy lockdowns and restrictions during her reelection campaign. BLM would have been kept in its box for future use.

Anyone who actually bought that narrative will still go to their grave believing it. They're in so deep that to do otherwise would cause an existential crisis.

u/chipit you just put yourself in a difficult place

Because, this study, which must be true and authoritative for you to post an article vindicating it, found that the reason ruzzian trolls didn't fuck up the election too massively was this:

    https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-35576-9

those who identify as “Strong Republicans” were exposed to roughly nine times as many posts from Russian foreign influence accounts than were those who identify as Democrats or Independents.

Because y'all strong republicans have a media bubble that's nine times more receptive to fake news ruz-prop that normal fucking people

    Nine times

Here's what else the study found.

The study looks only at twitter and only at the Twitter accounts which have been proven to be ruzzian state employee propagandists.

The study did not look at Facebook or the propagation of Z/trumpist narratives in thedonald, boomer facebook, qanon or 8kun, saidit, telegram, or any other avenues of trumpist Z prop.

    Here's the result

32 million Americans were potentially exposed to content from Internet Research Agency accounts

About one in ten Americans was poisoned by a foreign nation

    [–]Zapped 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Propaganda doesn't have to be fake news to be divisive. The objective of foreign, or even sometimes domestic, propaganda is to cause infighting and to push people further apart. BTW, both Russia and China sent "help" to the U.S. during the BLM riots, with that help going to the rioters.

    [–]Site_rly_sux 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I don't get what point you're trying to make here.

The study which u/chipit would like to direct our attentions toward showed that at the very least, one in ten Americans were exposed to ruzzian propaganda. And communities like this one were nine times more susceptible.

sent "help" to the U.S. during the BLM riots

Given that I'm learning about this for the first time on saidit, I'm going to assume you read about this on a fake news conspiracy blog somewhere. If it's real please link to it.

The objective of foreign, or even sometimes domestic, propaganda is to cause infighting and to push people further apart

Okay great sounds like you're agreeing with me and the study that one in ten Americans was exposed to a small group of known and tagged Internet Research Agency accounts on twitter. Why don't you tell u/chipit what you've learned about ruzzian propaganda on the internet, because I don't think he knows it's real

I'm obviously wasting time. You win.

    Hello zapped,

I am considering becoming a more active member here. I think that I could make a substantial amount of input here, if I were to automate my posting efforts.

I am thinking that if for every ONE post by a normal user if I were to post forty automated comments, I think that saidit would sortof come to life.

    With your approval, of course.

    Edward.

    [–]Zapped 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

More active? You posted for over 24 hours straight recently. Automated to drive up traffic? Does the means always justify the ends?

Serious question: What do you think is the percentage of bots or sock puppet accounts at Saidit right now?

    [–]pandorasbox 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

We have AI today that the average person is unaware of, and it is more advanced in it's writing skills than any ten university professors are.

AI bots writings are entirely indistinguishable from that of a human.

AI bots can not only generate text, but they can also generate video and audio. When we are watching ANY news show or sitcom or even a full length motion action movie, it is entirely possible that the entire thing was software generated.

It is impossible that I could even guess how many bots are interacting on any site.

The master of the bots will eventually become the master of the world.

Chipit, you absolute simpleton. It's the study. The one in your OP. Look at the headline of this post. Your title mentions a study. That's the study. It says 32 million Americans were exposed to ruzzian IRA accounts and "strong republicans" at a rate nine times greater. That's the study which you decided to post here. So funny and typical u/chipit that you have conspiracy theories about the study which you also cite as proof of your worldview. You're like a sitcom. That's chipit, typical chipit

That's completely irrelevant to the study which you wanted us to talk about. The one which found morons like you are nine times more susceptible to fake Z narratives from the russian government

    [–]Chipit[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

And the whole point is that this was held up as PROOF that TEH ROOSHINS altered the result of the election when this was a gigantic lie from the beginning.

    [–]Site_rly_sux 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

Okay so the study showed that, for just the subset of labelled IRA twitter accounts,. thirty two million Americans were directly exposed to poison. That's just one small group of twitter accounts.

That's the findings of the study you wanted us to talk about. it found that the ruzzians attempted to interfere with the election, and they touched at least one in ten Americans - far more so among communities like this one.

In fact it was normies' skepticism, nine times more powerful than the pilled communities', which saved this election according to this study.

Boy I'm glad you chose to link this one for discussion chipit

    [–]Chipit[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

    Saved the election...for Trump?

You're arguing against yourself...and losing. That's what happens when your orders are to automatically gainsay what the other person says.

    [–]Site_rly_sux 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Your post title which you wrote and submitted, chipit. It's at the top of your page.

You remember? About a study which you claim shows that ruzzian bots didn't sway the election.

The study. It says the reason why ruzzian bots didn't sway the election is because only smooth brains like you believe their shit. Nice job chipit, in selecting that study for us to discuss.

Thirty two million Americans were touched by election interference from this one group of accounts. According to the study which you found and linked.

    You're arguing against yourself...and losing.

You found and submitted for discussion a study which proves ruzzian bots affected millions in favor of trump. That means everyone who was worried that ruzzian bots had affect millions in favor of trump were right to be worried. Nice job chipit

I've been saying this since 2016. People who voted for Trump were already onboard. The worst Russian bots did was solidify an already dedicated base. It's weird that her campaign, the DNC, and the MSM all, out of one side of their mouths, blame Russian influence, but continue to push she won the popular election out of the other. How can both be true? I'm not talking about the Electoral College, I'm talking popular vote. If you won the popular vote, and I believe she did, wouldn't that suggest that her base continued to support her the same way Trump's did him? It also suggests that continuing the narrative that her loss had nothing to do with her campaign, but outside influence and whatever excuses they made, suggests she'd have been a terrible, no account leader, accepting no responsibility for her fuck-ups. Not that Trump is any better at accepting responsibility.

Are you serious? Do you honestly believe that Mr Putin doesn't have the resources to put a few dozen people to work running a few thousand software bots?

Fyi, I am not suggesting that Russia is involved or not involved, but Mr Putin has the resources to buy you and your family and your ancestors going all the way back to the beginning of time, for fucks sake.

Tell me you didn't read the link without telling me you didn't read the link

The study in the OP found that 32 million Americans were exposed to a group of accounts already known to be operated by the Internet Research Agency.
