Due to legacy of Opium war anybody smuggling narcotics to China is sentenced to death and executed almost immediately (no cucked 20 years of appeals).

A Chinese policy I admire.

This Brit-Pakistani-Polish man was executed 2 years after his capture.

Shaikh was born in Pakistan and moved to the United Kingdom as a child. After a couple of failed businesses, Shaikh moved to Poland with his second wife in 2005 with the dream of starting an airline, and later of becoming a pop star. He travelled from Poland to China and was arrested by Chinese customs officers at Ürümqi Diwopu International Airport on 12 September 2007 with 4 kilograms (8.818 lb) of heroin hidden in a compartment in his baggage. Shaikh's defence team pleaded ignorance of the existence of the drugs, although his lawyers said that the evidence against Shaikh was "overwhelming".[6] Reprieve, an anti-death penalty organisation, argued that Shaikh had mental illness which was exploited by criminals who tricked him into transporting the heroin on the promise of a recording contract.[7]

Considering how many mules are forced to traffic substances against their will, by force or by threat, or are otherwise unaware they are being used to smuggle, a death sentence for the mule themselves is illogical.

Same goes for targeting drug users, you do not stop the distribution of drugs by targeting drug users, the notion is ridiculous.

Also, not all substances warrant the same level of punishment. Opium is indeed very harmful to society and individuals, and I'm sure that China still bears the pain of the century of humiliation, but other substances are fairly harmless and should not result in harsh penalties.

Death sentences are a foolish punishment when delivered almost immediately, mistakes can be made in criminal investigation and you cannot bring back a life after the mistake has been discovered.

Libertarian bulls*hit. Drug addiction is a death sentence by itself. I read a (Democrat supporting Latino man) Sam Quinones' book and it made me murderous againt all people who sell junk.

A rich and handsome man had his wisdom tooth removed and was prescribed Oxycontin and decade later he was in a abandoned house in Cleveland, OH and died of Fentanyl overdose in a toilet.

A young woman overdosed and was left a vegetable. Her drug buddy who was forcing her to prostitution to pay her drugs left her and didnt call ambulance. A Christian woman demanded that she be taken care of and adopted her child. She was covered in s*hit because nursing home didn't care about her but she demanded they take care of her. And they did until she succumbed in Elizabethton, TN

Words cannot contain how much I hate drug pushers.

Yes, individual liberties which includes individual rights, freedoms and responsibilities alike. Every person should have the right to destroy their life, but be given all the support they need to escape addiction.

If you look for a tragedy, you will find it. I don't condone the use or sale of most opiates, but you cannot compare opiates to less harmful substances and punish equally.

Words cannot contain how much I hate drug pushers.

One of your examples included a case where the addiction stemmed from a doctor's prescription. I personally have a gripe against casual issuing of opiates and benzos by prescription as some people cannot leave them easily. Do you consider the doctors in this case to be a drug pusher?

There is none of that BS in addiction. Human becomes consumed by drugs.

UN convention has banned all narcotics worldwide and there is no country that has legalized them all.

Any country that did so would cease to exist when everyone would be too high to do anything.

A heroin addict described a high better than ANYTHING:

See what happens in Kensington Ave, Philadelphia, PA. This 100000x comes if drugs are sold in every store.

People are riding Amtrak from Lancaster, PA to get "some good s*hit".

Ps. Russian male life expectancy rose by a decade after alcohol minimum price was introduced,

Convenient that you avoid my question. Since many of these addictions start accidentally through medicating.

Addiction does not usually simply commence from availablity of drugs in a community of having drug dealers present. Use of drugs habitually, be it a mild substance like alcohol, cannabis, cocaine or amphetamines, or substances with far greater addiction potential such as opiates or benzos, is usually a blanket for other problems either with the individual or the community itself. Remove the problem and there is a greater chance of removing the addiction. Note that places with high rates of homelessness and poverty result in high drug use. The homelessness and poverty was there before the drugs, unless you are suggesting that $5k a month rents in LA for example are reasonable?

It's is more typical that people turn to drugs to cope with life than to take drugs and become homeless and sick. People who are in poverty, a stressful environment, who experience trauma etc will have a higher rate of drug use. The problem is not drug pushers, it's people having to live in shitholes with hard lives.

Alcohol and cannabis are NOT mild drugs they are deadly drugs that kill more people than "assault weapons" and destroy more lives.

Opiates are comparable to nuclear bomb in deadliness.

No, the life's problems are caused by drugs and drugs cause addiction whenever someone consumes them.

Nope, homelessness and poverty are caused by drugs. Everyone could get a minumum wage job easily in low unemploment country like US. South Africa has 30% unemployment and Greece and Spain have 15% ish unemloyment (that's just U3 real numbers are double that).

But all homelessness and poverty are CAUSED by drug use. Watch any skid row video and ever homeless person tells the same story, "I got addicted, I lost my job, I was divorced/thrown out of home etc.).

If you are severely addicted you can't get a job and earn -> you become homeless.

You should read that article about Tommy Rauh. An ambassador's (who was millionaire) son died amidst hobos from fentanyl overdose.

😂

You are delusional and out of touch of the real world. Sure, in some cases. Just like some people die each year from vending machines falling on them. But we don't say all vending machines cause death. Don't be retarded.

I speak from my experience. I lost my high-paying job due to alcoholism and my family disowned me. My mortgage gets readjusted in summer and my apt will be repossessed. I am writing even this 10 beers deep...

My country has so brutal winters (living next to arctic circle does that) that street living is not possible. I might actually die...

But at least I have "muh free healthcare".

And I suppose you blame the alcohol. Life is full of choices. You can choose to wake up and drink 10 beers, or you can choose to be better. Life is full of problems but blaming addiction changes nothing.

Importantly and often ignored is the fact that most addicts are trying to escape the harsh realities of our exploitative vicious world. Kick the junk and return to what? More impossible debt, rat race, misery, hostility, etc. Weak people don't just need support, they need the means to get stronger - but the ruling class wants us all as weak as possible, yet still mostly able to serve them. Thus the sheeple are not educated or facilitated properly.
