Those without a leader or a cause have nothing and no-one to follow, and those who need something to follow will find something, even if they don't quite understand what it is they are following or what the other opposing options are. This results in a bunch of imbiciles running around following things just to feel belonging, that they are doing the right thing by having a leader or a cause that others pat them on the back for.
