Egyptians are perfectly capable of sorting out their own crappy government if they want to but they just don't want to.
You have a secular side and a religious side and neither want the other in power so they will accept a dictator who represents none of them.
They literally successfully kicked a dictator out so they could have democracy then the religious party won fairly so they then kicked the democratically elected leaders out as well.
I used to think divide and rule was something done to people but it turns out a lot of nations just do it to themselves.
