Stopped using PayPal in 2017 or 2018 (don't remember when, because fuck them). Which means I cannot use eBay, because eBay forces Irish customers to use PayPal to buy and sell shit on eBay. But you know what? Fuck eBay. If that's what they want to do, I won't use their service. If I want to buy cheap crap that can break, I just go on Wish. Otherwise I go to a brick and mortar shop like I normally do.

Yep, I'll be rid of them by year's end.

I'm trying to be beholden to fewer companies in general. I barely use Paypal anyhow, so it was an easy candidate for elimination.

I use Paypal regularly and never noticed any of this nonsense. It's a nothingburger. Also - the dailywire? There's your problem. Fuck this far right bullshit. Fuck their attempts to politicize, radicalize and make racist literally anything and everything.

They actually posted this policy on their site dude. They are walking it back and claiming it was a 'mistake'. As a liberal who believes in freedom of speech, and isn't about to cede it some corporation that processes payments, I find this absolutely terrifying. How did this make it as far it went? How is this any better than Citizens United which we agree is a travesty?

Might be the the right wing tabloids calling it out but if it's true it's true. The policy was in there was massively unfair and and could be abused.

I've already blacklisted PayPal for a personal unrelated customer service issue. I'll admit I'd be perfectly happy to see them out of business.

i had several experiences with companies trying to hide behind paypal during disputes. these were all instances where making a simple card payment went through paypal to get to the merchant with no available alternatives, and each time i had to dispute the transaction with my bank because paypal would just align itself with whichever side was doing business with them willingly. paypal is very much in the business of confusing people out of money.

      Intentions were good?

      To police your politics?

      Great username.

This isn't even new, PayPal has been freezing and seizing funds for years. Kratom vendors, gun and knife dealers, and even people selling bullion have had issues, probably others. And they always say the same thing, PayPal drops a vague ban out of the blue, and then it's harder than hell to get customer service to do anything.

They're being sued for it. https://www.classaction.org/news/paypal-hit-with-class-action-over-alleged-seizure-of-user-funds-based-on-suspected-policy-violations

If you don't read the terms and conditions you sign up to that's on you.

It's not something I'd personally shout proudly about but maybe that's your thing.

They were fine then, but not now.

You are actually unaware of the import to financial institutions policing your politics?

      Yikes.

So you support a company finding you for not agreement with them. Have fun consenting to your own robbery.
