The teleprompter operator put 12 instead of 21, they're 9 years apart.

I had to check to see if that was true or a joke. It's very believable.

It's both funny and likely to be the case. He'd read anything off the prompter and then fumble and play it off like some innocent mistake if he thought it sounded wrong after he read it.
