Lol more like both sides have full checkmarks. They're both definitely obsessed with national security, not sure if you lived through the 9/11 era but that was all that was talked about for decades. They both think our military can stomp anyone. They're both cheating elections (look at gerrymandering, and how lobbying and 'advisors' have infiltrated our democracy).

This "the republicans will save you" rhetoric is basically a "bad cop, good cop" gambit to save the system at this point, but the parties keep switching who is the good cop and who is the bad cop about every 15 years. Whoever has power ends up being the bad cop, because the system is so thoroughly compromised by special interests.

I think that's partially true.

The reality is Republicans largely give two shots about the constitition, so long as whatever corporation they are using to make money gets paid.

They'll bow out if it doesn't make them money.

The Dems are true believers. While the older generation of politicians still are very similar to the Republicans( they'll play ball with the base, so long as it doesn't diminish their prospect of reelection), from about gen X on down, reelection and corporate donors don't matter as much.

Democrats moving so far to the left and being fascist has allowed the Republicans to essentially become the Democrat party of 40 years ago, with very few differences

    I've lived most of my life around Republicans. I can tell you they were NOT fascist until two years ago when they reacted out of fear to liberals burning down entire towns over one incident where a cop murdered a black criminal, with no evidence that it was even racially motivated. When you behave like that, people are going to flee to the exact opposite of what you advocate for. So when liberals claim to represent minorities, and then do things like that, of course it's going to make others weary of minorities. Guilt by association is very powerful, even if it's a false association; it can easily slander an entire population. So too is the Streisand effect: when the people behaving that way do nothing but complain about fascism, and constantly accuse their opponents of fascism, their opponents will be drawn to fascism because they feel if their enemy is suppressing something, there's probably something good about it.

    Very few people understand fascism. Many people dont want to understand it anyway because they find it very convenient to call anybody who disagrees with them a fascist.

    Dems and GOP are a part of the same system. A lot of conflicts with each other are just for show and done on purpose.

    There's a lot to unpack here. I'll touch on a few of the most pressing points:

    Disdain for Intellectuals & The Arts

    There might be a disdain for artists and intellectuals propped up by the current system, but not for those fields more generally. Fascism is best understood as an artistic movement above all else (see: Hitler and the Power of Aesthetics).

    Labor Power Suppressed

    Saying Republicans don't do this is a galaxy-brained take. Anyway, this has nothing to do with fascism. Hitler's Germany was every bit as much of a workers' state as Stalin's Russia.

    Powerful and Continuing Nationalism

    Arguably the healthiest and most life-affirming item here, Democrats and Republicans proudly assert their rejection of such a concept.

    Fraudulent Elections

    Hitler or Xi or most any autocrat enjoys more genuine support from their people than Biden or Trump or any other representative of these supposed "democracies" in the West.
