This is quite an overt example. The usual is to be a lot more covert about these teachings. My son's friend group at one stage included a black kid in his class. He and his parents have been to my home several times over the years but I could tell the kid's mum was one of those crusader types. It was sad to predict accurately how that friend group changed. When we had my son's birthday and they were all playing on the inflatable castle we had hired for the day, the race thing was not even an issue.

Now we are four years since that time thereabouts. The black kid does not associate with his white (I think there are two Indian kids too) friends and only hangs around with black friends. That's all well and good, friends change over time, maybe he does have more in common with those friends colour aside. There was no big argument or falling out, but I can't help but wonder about some of the things both my son and daughter have brought home from school that essentially teaches black kids that white people are bad.

That to me seems to be the indoctrination going on. White kids too are believing themselves to be bad too but can't quite put a finger on it other than churning out the staples of past dominations, slavery and the like.

If we keep teaching black kids that white people are the enemy and need to be fought, how is that combating racism? These children would never have had the thought enter their heads without parental influence and schooling influence. Some of the things I have heard that particular mother say when she was over was a little out there to be saying to a small child. Maybe she herself was uncomfortable not being around other black mothers and that's fine, I can understand that. But all I can do in that scenario is to make my home as welcoming as I can for my kids friends and their parents should they be over.

I think this miseducation is still going on and is rampant. The issue is it targets black kids while silencing white people from having an issue with it. I don't remember the actor but if teaching kids that white people are racist as if it were an original sin that cannot be undone, the world would be a better place. Five year olds don't see colour. Adults do.
