I disagree. Most of the people with heavy student loan debt are not rich or elite. Those people paid for college outright. This is vote-buying that will lead to increased government spending and taxes.

They sat back and happily let shady for-profit colleges rip people off. They've only half-ass made up for it, because determining which one's ripped people off is too much like worth. They've only selectively forgiven a few of the most overtly scam colleges, because their status of fraudulent fell squarely in their lap. Instead of doing work, they want to be lazy, and buy votes, by forgiving all loans, indiscriminately.
