Liberals blame the Left for Supreme Court decision, despite the fact that the Democrats have controlled the executive and both houses of the legislative branch for two years and could have easily passed a federal bill. Leftists are different from liberals, they're not synonyms.

/u/Chipit the federal legislature doesn't have the power to directly tell states what laws they can have.

Federal government passes laws all the time. They supersede state laws.
