If it makes it to the news it is a hoax. I have not seen a single exception in my life. Sure, hate crimes exist, but real ones don't make it to the news. On the other hand, hate hoaxes nearly always make it to mainstream tv news, and are paraded around as if there is no possibility of them being fake.
