That group deserves further attention because they were mainly 300, or 600 fascists who were protesting, fighting, and organizing in Ukraine in 2014, remnants of which continued thereafter. Their comander was elected to one of the seats in Parliament in 2014. They were initially helpful to Ukraine in 2014, but thereafter have splintered into other groups, the largest of which is perhaps 3000 mainly civilian supporters. They don't represent 99% of the 44 million Ukrainians. They've never had any power to speak of. Putin and his supporters want us to think that the existence of this fringe group is a sufficient excuse for the invasion of Ukraine and the slaughter of its civilians.

do you really think that the azov battalion could shell eastern ukraine for eight years without the support of the ukrainian government? the azov battalion is a part of the ukranian millitary and zelensky just banned all political oppostion except for svoboda and right sector. this media campaign is not about protecting democracy in ukraine (which never existed) or protecting ukrainians from the ravages of war (which the media has ignored for eight years) its about protecting natos continued expansion into eastern europe and natos never ending quest for complete and world wide military dominance.

Yes, a few wackos were part of the armed forces, and were trying to expel Russians from the East - it was their job. The Russians shouldn't have been bombing the eastern region to rubble. There are many videos of the Russian abuses, and the necessary responses from Ukraine armed forces.

You claim they dont represent the larger population yet it takes a lot more than a few hundred votes to elect their leader to parliament and the Ukraine was the only country in the world other than the United States, to vote against a United Nations resolution to combat the glorification of neo-nazis and then their President, Zelenski wears a Nazi Iron cross emblem on his t-shirt when addressing the U.S. Congress. Why do you think he would do that in the face of all the controversy about the neo-nazi threat in Ukraine? Do you think Zelenski just did not know what the Iron Cross represents in the eyes of the world? I think you are choosing to ignore the obvious.

Seriously? You're really taking that pro-Russian bait hook, line and sinker? There are numerous military cross symbols that have been used by Westerners since the 8th century, in various countries. The latest emblem of the Ukraine armed forces dates to 1991: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Forces_of_Ukraine Ukraine has been run by pro-Russian politicians for most of those 30 years. Even if a few thousand people like the neo-Nazi movement, they've not had any power, and nothing justifies Putin's war crimes. Ukrainians suffered the most in WWII, and are again suffering, in both cases due to foreign fascist authoritarians.

No. You are one taking that anti-Russian propaganda bait and swallowing it hook line and sinker. You might want to stop blindly believing the pathological liars that call themselves news media in this country and listen to the people who actually live there and have seen with their eyes what has been going on in Ukraine for the last 8 years like Russian athlete Maryana Naumova who has been in Donbass more than 20 times in the last few years working with schoolchildren in over 100 schools there. Let her tell you what she has seen in Ukraine.

Right - so let's cherrypick biased straw man arguments about one person or another. You can observe for yourself the raw videos of the slaughter of Ukrainians and carpet bombing of cities, prompted ONLY by Putin's insane fantasy that the USSR should return. Just look....
