Actual science has received so many mortal wounds in the past couple of years it will take multiple generations to recover, if recovery is possible. The sad part is that so many scientists believe they are investigating without bias when in fact they fail to see their bias precisely because they share it with the majority. Scientists believe themselves to be "above politics" when it is the crowdthink within their field (i.e. politics) that is determining their research choices and the conclusions they draw.
