It's called "regulatory capture," and even cynics would be shocked at the level of corruption running rampant at the FDA. Did you know that Big Pharma funds 75% of the drug approval research that goes on at the FDA, and in return for those hundreds of millions of dollars can get "expedited" service?

Healthcare is the posterchild for the trend in western economies for the past 50 years: centralization and consolidation of power. We have re-entered a feudal economy. Make no mistake, at this point centralized healthcare has decided to manage patients going forward in a form of health slavery. The only way out is to start working outside the box. Find alternative means for providing our needs, including healthcare. Exit the insurance -> corporate medicine money pit and find medical care from people still operating in direct payment systems. This is still extremely difficult to do, as such medical professionals lack access to much necessary infrastructure (devices and drugs). But until people boycott the standard model, it will own us.
