So the very few top floors tilted, but still fell at freefall speed. What difference does it make.

If you think any part of a building is designed to withstand the force of like 1/3rd of its upper floors falling at any speed you have a very poor understanding of physics. With the weights involved here it would not take a very large initial failure to gain enough momentum to snowball into what you see here. Once a mass drops and impacts the building below it with enough force to break off a larger mass, there's no stopping it

How long do you think it takes for the falling destructive mass destroy the building below it? Once it starts it's not going to be slowing down, and the longer it falls the less resistance its going to encounter
