Pathetic and powerful, the worst combo.

There’s a more sinister reason for social networking sites removing like/dislike counts, and in some cases view counters: with these metrics inaccessible, it’s far easier to completely fabricate trends, popularity, and favorability. Want to push a video or narrative? Just put it on the front page and say it’s getting tons of views, as there’s no way prove otherwise. Want to portray something as unpopular? Just say it has 80% dislikes; doesn’t matter if everyone and their mother openly supports it, clearly there’s 80% of people elsewhere that don’t.

Bingo! I hope we get to see another browser plugin that super imposes their own useful metrics to spite the establishment.

Great idea, but why bother when alternatives to youtube exist? Mass exodus to bitchute or odysee when.

Nail on the head. 100% what this is about.

You can still dislike videos, but you won't be able to see the dislike count anymore, cause it hurt Joe Biden's feelings.

The only reason YouTube has a dislike button to begin with is to allow leftists to mass dislike videos made by Conservatives, but then they realized Conservatives can do it too, and they did, so YouTube's suddenly hiding the dislike count.

The reason SaidIt doesn't have downvotes is because leftists on Reddit mass downvote Conservatives to the point where their posts are hidden. The reason it didn't back-fire there was because they banned all the Conservatives years ago.

Can't fabricate social media consent with a dislike button there to call bullshit on you...

Hiding the truth doesn't make it go away.

Bunch of pussies. No one is going to use the platform any more. Everyone is looking for something new to catch on.

There must be massive backlash for this, unprecedented backlash

SaidIt also removed dislikes.

SaidIt never removed dislikes. It never had them to start with.

I get the impression that the guy making the announcement doesn't really think it's a great idea, but a job's a job.

I remember when they had the 5 star voting system. It all started going downhill when they changed the Like Dislike bar colour from Green/Red to Grey. And now we have this. Eventually YouTube will give up at any pretense of having audience engagement and just rate videos as they see fit.
