What's fascinating is watching the increasing concentration of "power" in pro-state hands - as you describe well in your post - alongside the obvious collapse in the function of the institutions they now control. The tighter their control becomes, the more obvious the failure becomes.

What's tragic is that so many people are so destroyed by following the dominant philosophy faithfully - believing the rich and powerful when they promise "a better world" - that they are no longer capable of recognizing that it doesn't have to be this way. Their capacity for critical thought, and for critical moral judgment has been gutted by the abuse they have suffered.

I wish I knew how to reach people who genuinely do not understand that their saviours are the problem.

Likewise. I do have the belief though that the majority of people aren't motivated by reason, but rather by the social networks they're a part of. I think this is the only thing that explains why so many will do a 180 on their former beliefs they moment they're no longer accepted with their group.

I have a friend who went from libertarian to socialist, and I believe this is the reason why. He is huge into Reddit and when the culture of Reddit changed, so did he.

So really, reaching them may not be the goal, unless you can find a new and better social group for them to join. A better option would be building up alternate communities and social groups that will gradually appeal to these people and take them in once they're large enough. Or changing the culture of existing large social groups.
