Ignoring the fact that not being attracted to transfolks is entirely valid and not transphobic, since everyone's entitled to their own sexual orientation... there are some transfolks that pass. Blaire White and Samantha Lux pass pretty well, for example.

Before I even knew what trans was: people thought I was a girl... and apparently I pass enough for doctors to ask if I'm pregnant -.- (I was having trouble sleeping, and I guess that could be a symptom of pregnancy, which is why he asked, but I just have DSPD). I'm sure someone who's more educated could tell I'm trans just by looking at me. My voice is more feminine than most trans-women (even though I have GERD), but maybe you could tell from that too.

Even if they pass 100%: you have a right to not wan'o date them — you even have a right to only date people with a certain hair or eye color if you want'o, that's your choice, and no one's got a right to make that choice for you.

PS: I'm surprised Jessica Yaniv wasn't on there LOL

I agree. The idea that you must do anything, including like someone, is as absurd as saying you must like people who are unattractive for whatever subjective reasons - they're ugly, old, fat, thin, different race, annoying voice, awkward, bitchy, stupid, or pick their nose. There's no end to the ways people can be unattractive and forcing it is akin to reverse rape, depending on how they choose to force it.

You're extremely lucky then. And I mean extremely. Male development drastically changes every aspect of the body and brain and there is no process to reverse it, only to enable it. There are a few people who have very few androgen receptors and it does very little, but the majority of males aren't even recognizable as the same person before and after puberty. And actually this is true of trans men as well.

Them that reach the level of 'drag queen' can indeed pass. For them, the only way to tell is to look for the Adam's Apple, and even that is not reliable with transsexuals...that may of had surgery to alter it.

Nope, never known a drag queen who passes irl either.

The trouble is people are so used to only seeing these guys on tv or the internet they assume the effect is the same irl, oh no no no.

Like the dutch makeup guy who was stealth for years on YouTube from the neck up but irl is 6'5". It's not just the height either, the build, the movement, the skin thickness is obvious when you're face to face with someone.

Yeah. Most people will never meet a transgendered person, leaving carefully managed media images/footage as their only point of reference. I've met maybe five in my time. Most fit the 'guy in a dress' theme. Only one was somewhat convincing. She was at first glance 'passing' yet very quickly the uncanny valley sense arose.

You've probably met several trans men though and didn't notice a thing. Nature just hates male creatures.

[–]Trajan 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (10 children)

Yeah, women going that way have an easier time of trying to appear male. Testosterone is very much a one-way ride.

[–]VulptexVoluntaryist 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

They don't only appear male, they actually do become male. They go through the exact same process natural males do, all fetuses begin female and males are altered by testosterone. Not in a way that's good for them, but in a way that makes them more beneficial to the tribe. Nature dictates that self-actualization is for females only, males exist only to mate, defend the tribe, and work for the tribe and female partners. So it's not surprising that almost every detrans is FtMtF, and then they're stuck being on the shittier with us.

Nah, the closest we can get is to believe they vaguely go through male puberty. They are not biologically male any more than a bald person in a wig has a full head of hair.

[–]VulptexVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

No, male hormones make female male. In fact that's how every male develops, every fetus is female initially. How many trans men do you actually see? The only remaining difference for them is their sexual organs.

[–]Trajan 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Sex is determined at conception. Even a female foetus exposed to testosterone remains female albeit with masculinising effects. The chromosomes are there before sex hormones come into play.

[–]VulptexVoluntaryist 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Chromosomes do little more than decide which hormone is released. In fact males are far more susceptible to mutations because females have a backup copy of their genes.

Female hormones do very little, the only known permanent change is breasts. Which makes sense, because all they are expected to do for their tribe is have babies, the rest is their life. Male hormones on the other hand alter almost everything so they can be the most fit slaves possible. So it is not hard to send a female through the male development with hormones and have them be almost exactly the same as a natural male. This is yet another female-exclusive privilege, things don't work out so well the other way.

A lot of times there's still an 'uncanny valley' effect, even in those cases. Your subconscious know's something's not quite right, even if your waking mind can't quite put your finger on it.

[–]VulptexVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

No, every human begins female and males are renovated by hormones, once in the womb and once during puberty. This is a one-way development, there is no reversal process. Even the few who manage to make themselves look female are still fundamentally male. Even detrans women are this way because they became male and there's no real way to go back.
