    Thanks, it's always good to have a counterpoint. Salon's article does seem hyperbolic but it still concerns me that the state could be registering student and faculty's political views. I'm all for promoting intellectual freedom on campus, but it's also important to be vigilant so that legislation does not grant unnecessary powers to the government that could be misused by present or future administrations.

    Even Rand Paul and many Saiditors must be thinking that this is an abuse by the state: the sort of anti-US constitution action that - were it it to result in a lawsuit that reached the Supreme Court (even with their majority GOP hacks) - could be overturned as an anti-democratic violation. That said, I read recently that Citizens United have now arranged additional options for hiding donations and donors, thanks to the Supreme Court, which is another abuse of power and of the so-called representative democracy.

    Requiring professors and students to list their political beliefs is going way to far. The curriculum should be public and if there is propaganda going on it should be highlighted, but requiring people to list their viewpoints is really bad.
